 BLOCKBUSTER PRESENTS 13 AWARDS AT FRANCHISEE ANNUAL MARKETING EXPO
 FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: BV), the world's largest home video operator, honored on Tuesday night, Sept. 15, 12 national and international franchisees for outstanding performance at the company's fourth Franchisee Annual Marketing Expo, held Sept. 13-16 at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. More than 500 persons attended the four-day event.
 Honored were franchisees headquartered in California, Canada, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Mexico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
 Supermodel Cindy Crawford and Blockbuster executives joined in the presentation ceremony. Winners were:
 CALIFORNIA: DKG Enterprises Inc., Los Angeles, the Spirit of Blockbuster Award to former NBA star David K. Greenwood, for rebuilding his store in his hometown of Compton, Calif. following the Los Angeles riots;
 CANADA: Can-Tex Entertainment Company, Alberta, the Chairman's Award (the top award, presented by Blockbuster Chairman and Chief Executive Officer H. Wayne Huizenga) for demonstrating overall excellence in all phases of the industry, making Blockbuster the undisputed video store of choice in its territory;
 COLORADO: UI Video Stores Inc., Denver, one of four zone winners of the President's Award (all presented by President and Chief Operating Officer Joseph R. Baczko) for the store with highest trailing 12-month revenue, Midwest Zone, Peoria, Ill;
 FLORIDA: Rollem Holdings Inc., Miami, the Spirit of Blockbuster Award, to Chairman Ronald Fieldstone, for rebuilding five stores destroyed by Hurricane Andrew;
 FLORIDA: Pueblo International Inc., Pompano Beach, Eastern Zone President's Award for its highest-volume store, Hato Rey, Puerto Rico;
 HAWAII: Pacific Video Entertainment, Honolulu, Western Zone highest-volume store, Ala Moana, Hawaii;
 MASSACHUSETTS: Endless Video, Pembroke, Developer of the Year Award, for that company's ability to simultaneously open new Blockbuster stores and convert existing video stores to the Blockbuster concept;
 MEXICO: Grupo Mexicano de Video, Mexico City, International Franchisee of the Year Award, for 18 stores already open and has a development schedule to increase that number to 35 by the end of 1992;
 SOUTH CAROLINA: WJB Video, Spartanburg, Merchants Award, for the best all-around job of service, renting and selling;
 TENNESSEE: Southern Stores Video Inc., Memphis, Marketing Award, for local marketing innovations;
 TEXAS: Texoma Entertainment, Dallas, WOW Award, for the best exterior design and impact at Ardmore, Okla. store;
 TEXAS: United Texas Entertainment, Odessa, Central Zone President's Award for highest volume store, Killeen; and
 The Franchise Manager of the Year Award to Blockbuster employee Bob Kalafut of the Eastern Zone, for making the extra effort to see that his franchisees received full utilization of all resources.
 There were 2,888 stores in the Blockbuster system as of June 30, 1992. Of that total, 1,855 were company-owned and 1,033 were franchise- owned. Blockbuster stores are located in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico as well as in nine foreign countries: Austria, Australia, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom and Venezuela.
