BLITZ ON SEX FIEND CABBIES.
ILLEGAL mini-cab drivers caught touting for business will be fingerprinted and have their DNA taken.
The move by Home Secretary David Blunkett is designed to crack down on sex attacks on women passengers.
From tomorrow, taxi touting in unlicensed vehicles will become an arrestable offence.
Last year in London alone, mini-cab drivers were responsible for 167 sex assaults, and there have been 86 rapes over the past two years. Police minister Hazel Blears said: "Unlicensed drivers are a menace, particularly for women."
"The Government is now giving vital new powers to deal with these dangerous individuals."
