BLACK CLAWSON AND RECOUPE RECYCLING TECHNOLOGIES
PLAN JOINT ANNOUNCEMENT
RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Black Clawson, the nation's largest manufacturer of recycling equipment, and Recoupe Recycling Technologies, a joint venture of Chesapeake Corporation (NYSE: CSK) and Stake Technology Limited (NASDAQ: STKLF), will announce on Nov. 20 a demonstration program for a revolutionary new system of recycling paper wastes.
More than 80 percent of America's recycled waste paper is processed with Black Clawson equipment. The company has been the leader in the design and manufacture of systems to recycle paper in mills throughout the world for more than 75 years.
Black Clawson's technology evolved from processing old corrugated containers, linerboard and other packaging materials. With the introduction of the Black Clawson Hydrapulper(R) in 1939, waste paper processing was revolutionized. Subsequent inventions and product innovations allowed mills to use ever-increasing percentages of recycled fiber in their products while maintaining the integrity of their final product.
From basic fiber reclamation, Black Clawson has emerged as the single source covering the full spectrum of paper production from waste paper. Black Clawson environmental systems handle wastewater, rejects and sludge generated by the recycling process. Paper machinery processes the reclaimed pulp into finished paper which is transformed on Black Clawson converting machinery into a variety of end products.
Black Clawson is a privately held company with operations worldwide, headquartered in New York City.
The formation of Recoupe Recycling Technologies was announced by its joint venture partners on Dec. 13, 1990. Chesapeake Corporation and Recoupe Recycling are headquartered in Richmond, Va. Chesapeake, founded in 1918, is an integrated paper and forest products company which produces and markets kraft, tissue, packaging and treated wood products.
Stake Technology designs, develops and licenses proprietary equipment and processes for steam pre-treatment of fibrous materials to convert them to higher value products. The Toronto-based company was founded in 1973.
