BJP demands Moily's dismissal from Cabinet over corporate funding to his trust.
The BJP on Wednesday demanded resignation of Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily over allegations that a corporate giant provided funds to his family-controlled trust when he headed the corporate affairs ministry.
The demand came after reports claimed that Kissan Sabha Trust (KST), headed by Moily and run by his family members, had received donations from a business conglomerate's corporate social responsibility fund last year when he was in the corporate affairs ministry.
The funds were allegedly received to meet operation costs of educational institutions run in Karnataka by KST. Moily's wife, son and daughter are members of the trust.
The allegations surfaced after the leak of alleged e-mails between Moily's son Harsha and his business partner Sudhir Prabhu.
Reacting to the allegation, Moily's son has said that his family trust has not received any funding and that it does not have any corpus or other assets. He also said that expenses were met through public donations.
