THERE'S just one sleep to go, and these are the games I'm hoping to find in my stocking tomorrow morning.
God of War 3 (PS3) THE last in the God of War trilogy. Join Kratos as he heads out on a mission to finally kill Zeus and wipe out the gods of Olympus.
It may not be the best of the three, but the graphics are jaw-dropping and the action compels you to play all the way to the heart-stopping conclusion. RATING: 9/10 - God of Awe Alan Wake (XBOX 360) I REALLY didn't know what to make of this game when I first played it.
Broken into chapters, you play author Alan Wake, who sets out in search of his wife Alice in the town of Bright Falls. As uncertain as I was at the start, by the end of the game I was thoroughly hooked.
Perfect pacing, an engrossing storyline and some truly creepy set pieces make for an exhilarating and unique experience. RATING: 7/10 - Novel Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) THE must-have game for all racing fans, Gran Turismo 5 makes its debut on the PS3.
The most realistic driving simulator available on a game console, GT5 doesn't disappoint.
You can get behind the wheel of over 1,000 different vehicles, take them out on 71 different tracks and night driving makes a welcome return.
And for the first time ever, if you have a prang in your car, you'll see the damage on your pride and joy. If you're feeling really naughty, you can even flip the cars onto their roofs! RATING: 8/10 - Joy Rider Heavy Rain (PS3) ANOTHER potboiler which draws you in from the beginning and spits you out drained physically and emotionally at the end.
The choices you make as Ethan Mars affect how the storyline plays out. Your decision will influence the cut scenes you see, and even mean life or death for certain characters.
I played this game before the Playstation Move version came out, and I found it to be vastly irritating at times. But, whatever its criticisms, Heavy Rain will stay with you. RATING: 6/10 - Torrential Metroid: Other M (Wii) I LOVED Metroid Prime on the Gamecube, so I was apprehensive as to how Other M would measure up.
While there were a few little niggles with the controls, the sensational storyline and action-packed levels made for a great little game.
Ok, so its not quite up there with Prime, but it is a very worthy addition to a superb franchise. RATING: 6/10 - Intergalactic Merry Christmas!
