BIRDS OF A FEATHER

ELKO, Nev., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Should the northern goshawk be listed as an endangered species? A Boise State University graduate student is studying the effects of mining on northern goshawk habitat. The $100,000 study, funded by Independence Mining Company Inc., will be conducted near the company's Jerritt Canyon Mine. Results will be used by the U.S. Forest Service to determine the land management practices. In addition, the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Service will determine whether the goshawk should be added to the endangered species list.
