BIRD ANNOUNCES JOINT VENTURE WITH KENSINGTON MANUFACTURING COMPANY
 OF PENNSYLVANIA
DEDHAM, Mass., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Bird Corporation (NASDAQ: BIRD) today announced the formation of a 50 percent joint venture between Kensington Manufacturing Company of Leechburg, Pa., and its Vinyl Products division of Bardstown, Ky.
Kensington is one of the leading manufacturers of vinyl replacement windows with an annual volume of approximately $20 million. Bird Corporation's Vinyl Products division, as well as being a producer of vinyl siding, is a designer of vinyl replacement windows and produces the extrusions used in window fabrication.
Vinyl windows have represented the highest growth segment of the building materials market in recent years and is focused upon the repair and remodeling sector of that market. Bird believes this joint venture will yield synergistic benefits to its Vinyl Products division, increase its market share in the window profile business and provide greater insight into the needs and requirements of this increasingly important component of the home repair and remodeling market.
Bird Corporation is a U.S. based manufacturer of building materials products and a supplier of environmental services.
