BIOSAFETY SYSTEMS REPORTS FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- BioSafety Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: BSSI) reported first quarter net sales of $3,952,200, an increase of 4.7 percent from the $3,776,500 reported for the comparable fiscal 1993 period ended Sept. 30. "The increase was attributable to the continued success of a coordinated sales and direct marketing effort, focusing on the regulatory requirements of healthcare workers," stated Hank Kraus, president and chief executive officer of BioSafety Systems.
Net income for the first quarter ended Sept. 30, 1993, was $331,000, or 9 cents per share, compared to net income of $328,700, or 11 cents per share, for the same period of the preceding year. While the company's net income rose slightly, Kraus stated that "the decline in earnings per share was the result of additional shares outstanding from the company's initial public offering."
BioSafety Systems Inc. markets, distributes and manufactures products to reduce risks for healthcare workers who administer chemotherapy drugs, deal with infected blood, face airborne contaminants or have exposure to hazardous chemicals.
