BIOMEDICAL DYNAMICS REPORTS RECORD SALES FOR FOURTH QUARTER
BURNSVILLE, Minn., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Biomedical Dynamics (NASDAQ: BMDC) achieved its ninth consecutive quarter of sales increases with the fourth quarter of 1991 producing new record revenue. Net sales for the period ending Dec. 31, 1991, were $2,373,833 compared to $1,835,368 in the prior year's fourth quarter, an increase of 29 percent. Net income for this current period was $108,984 or $.02 per share compared with net income of $257,367 or $.05 per share during the prior year's fourth quarter.
The company had net sales of $8,371,570 for the year ending Dec. 31, 1991, compared with net sales of $6,556,817 during the year ended Dec. 31, 1990, an increase of 28 percent. Net income for the year ended Dec. 31, 1991, was $567,800 or $.12 per share compared with net income of $706,101 or $.15 per share during the year ended Dec. 31, 1990.
Net income for the fourth quarter included $98,192 of litigation costs for the successful defense of the company's Infusable(R) patent and $210,285 in merger activities -- with Vital Signs, Inc., adding up to $308,477. The year ending statement includes $272,474 of litigation costs and $210,285 for merger expenditures, totalling $482,759. Had these non-recurring allocations not been incurred, Biomedical Dynamics would have realized a record year in net income, in addition to its record sales revenue.
"Overall, we are very pleased with the strong growth of our CUFF-ABLE(R) disposable blood pressure cuff product line and continued demand for our infusable disposable pressure infusor products," commented Joseph A. Marino, president. "We believe that increasing acceptance of our products and expansion of their markets will continue in 1992." Marino went on to remark, "I am further encouraged by the fact that, in less than two years, we achieved the number two marketshare position in disposable blood pressure cuffs, behind only Johnson & Johnson's Critikon division. This compliments our number one marketshare position in disposable infusors."
Biomedical Dynamics, located in Burnsville, is engaged in the development, manufacture and marketing of medical products designed to meet the needs of the critical care hospital marketplace.
The company's common stock is traded in the NASDAQ System under the symbol BMDC.
