BIODYNAMICS INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES FDA ACCEPTANCE OF 510(K) NOTICE OF FORGED COBALT CHROME HIP REPLACEMENT SYSTEM

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Biodynamics International, Inc. (NASDAQ: BDYN) today announced that the 510(k) notification of intent to market the Cenator(TM) Total Hip System (Cenator) has been accepted by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). The Cenator Total Hip System design is based on clinically proven, biomechanical principles and offers several technical improvements and advantages.
The Cenator will be marketed exclusively in the United States by Corin Orthopedic Products (COP), a 51 percent-owned joint venture of Biodynamics. The Cenator is manufactured by Biodynamic's partner, Corin Medical Limited, Gloucestershire, England.
John V. Hargiss, president of Biodynamics said, "The recent acceptance of the Cenator by the FDA, along with the current line of Corin Medical's orthopedic prostheses, will allow COP to better compete with a fuller range of orthopedic devices. The Cenator is a high quality product which offers the surgeon a cost effective alternative in today's environment of health care cost containment. The current annual domestic market for Corin's products is in excess of $1.2 billion."
The Cenator is designed for use with bone cement and is manufactured from forged cobalt chrome to insure superior strength and wear properties. The introduction of the Cenator into the orthopedic marketplace further enhances the already growing demand for Corin products in the U.S. Since its inception, COP has appointed selected stocking distributors and agents nationwide and is actively seeking additional representation resulting from this new introduction.
