Bank Nizwa CEO named Islamic banker of the year

Khalid Al Kayed, CEO of Bank Nizwa, has been named Islamic banker of the year at the seventh Global Islamic Finance Awards 2018. The accolade recognises Al Kayed as an outstanding corporate leader, committed to driving stronger growth for Bank Nizwa as Omans first fully-fledged Islamic bank. It is a great honour to be recognised by one of the most prestigious awards in Islamic finance. While this is an individual career achievement, it is a reflection on my teams steadfast efforts to provide the highest levels of service, transparency and dedication in order to ensure Bank Nizwa leads by example as one of the most trusted and innovative banks in Oman, Al Kayed said. I will take this recognition as a further testament to our efforts at Bank Nizwa to continue laying the foundation for a thriving Islamic banking industry, he added.

Sharakah celebrates 20th anniversary

On November 8, 2018 Sharakah celebrated completing 20 years since it was incorporated back in 1998. His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said issued Royal Decree (76/98) to incorporate Fund for Development of Youth Projects as a closed joint stock company. The objective is to support the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Sultanate. Sharakah offers three main services including creating awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship and SMEs; providing financial support for new and existing businesses; and providing consultation and advice to business owners to ensure their progress and sustainability. Sharakah aims to support Omans vision to diversify the economy, encourage the creation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), develop the entrepreneurial capacity of Omanis, to assist in creating sustainable SMEs and creating job opportunities in the community.

Spar Oman launches Sri Sri Tattva products

Spar Oman has announced their strategic partnership with Sri Sri Tattva (SST), one of Indias leading brands, and the consumer goods and wellness arm of the Art of Living. Omran wins Business Vision award

Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) received a prestigious Business Vision award for its contributions to developing the Sultanates tourism sector. The company was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to National Economic Growth Oman 2018 accolade. The judging panel selected Omran for having 18 new hotels in operation and more under construction, as well as boosting investment and job creation in the Sultanates tourism sector. The core of our business is to invest in the growth of the rapidly expanding tourism sector by creating tourism infrastructure and projects, which will directly support the diversification of the economy away from a dependence on the oil and gas sectors, Omran CEO Peter Walichnowski said. Xerox showcases new workplace apps

Juventus legend Edgar Davids visits Oman
