Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP) conducted its second annual health, safety and environment (HSE) workshop at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Muscat. The one-day workshop was attended by over 70 participants from OOCEP and partner contracting organisations from across Oman. Themes covered during the various sessions included maintaining a culture of safety for OOCEP employees and contractors; compliance with HSE policies and standards; the importance of site security; best practice road safety management and RAS inspections as per OPLA standards. Sulaiman bin Salim Al-Zakwani, vice president- operations of OOCEP noted, "Our company is committed to maintaining the highest levels of health, safety and environmental protection, because we believe that safety is an investment and not a cost to bear."
Bank nizwa supports al Shahba'a inshad festival
Bank Nizwa supported Al Shahba'a Inshad Festival that paid tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Wilayat of Nizwa. The event was organised by the local youth under the auspices of HE Sheikh Dr Khalifah bin Hamad Al Sadi, governor of Al Dakhiliyah and the supervision of HE Hamdan bin Nasser Al-Rumaidhi, Nizwa Representative of Shura Council. In early 2015, the Bank, in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and the Wali of Nizwa's of ce, unveiled the design concept for a monument honouring Nizwa's achievement of being the 2015 Capital of Islamic Culture. Other community activities included hosting various discussions and conferences to raise awareness on Islamic nance and to build sustainable SMEs.
Landmark initiates blood-sugar test camps
Landmark Group initiated a number of free blood sugar testing camps as part of its 'beat diabetes' campaign. The group along with its support partners, Al Raffa Hospital, Johnson & Johnson (Muscat Pharmacy) will move to various key locations and companies across Muscat, Sohar and Salalah. The beat diabetes campaign, which was launched in 2010, is supported by the Ministry of Health and the Oman Diabetic Association. ooredoo combats telecom scams
In response to an increasing number of telecom scams, Ooredoo has launched a series of technical and security measures to ght fraudulent SMS and calls that target its customers. During such scams, customers have reported receiving calls from people posing as Ooredoo employees, asking for personal banking information or money in order to claim a prize. Combating this problem, Ooredoo has changed the way it delivers SMS, implementing a new set-up which will reduce the number of fraud incidents. Its new advanced ltering system will now have increased control and security for messaging, resulting in a signi cant reduction in the number of unsolicited SMS messages received, as well as spam. Moving forward, more tailored SMS security measures will be taken to further reduce unwanted SMS. Jim Maxwell, chief legal, regulatory and wholesale of cer at Ooredoo, said, "We have been working very closely with the TRA and other local authorities, to raise public awareness about these scams through social media and other platforms. Anyone requesting money or your banking information is likely to take it and disappear."

The Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) conducted a business opportunities forum at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation's multi-purposes hall, recently, detailing the upcoming opportunities
on operation, facility management, furniture and retails in Muscat International Airport. A series of presentations were delivered on the various aspects of the massive expansion plans for the new airport, expected to open soon with an eventual capacity for 36mn passengers. The forum was organised with the aim to explain to quali ed businesses with relevant experience, the many business opportunities that the new airport will offer such as -- information and communication technology support and maintenance, facility management and non-aeronautical services to name a few. With over 18,000 square meters of commercial space available in the terminal, ten-year contracts for each of the key categories were highlighted to the businesses that attended the forum.
Pizza Hut participates in Global Handwashing Day
Pizza Hut reinforced hygiene as a pillar of its food safety culture by participating in the Global Handwashing Day, an annual initiative by World Health Organisation, observed on October 15, 2015. The Global Handwashing Day is a commemoration of international efforts for a healthier and more hygienic future. In observance of the Global Handwashing Day, 34 Pizza Hut outlets across Oman reaf rmed their commitment to maintain high level of hygiene and deliver 'trust in every bite' to customers. A specially designed Hand Washing Station, equipped with anti-bacterial soap, sanitiser, warm running water at 38 degree celsius, tissue and a foot-pedal dustbin, was installed at Pizza Hut outlets in Oman. More than 250 internal audits were conducted within Pizza Hut. In addition, unannounced swab testing was carried out by Atyab Foodtech.
omanoil donates stationery supplies to students
Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) donated stationery supplies to 250 children from schools in the governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliya, and Muscat in collaboration with Dar al At'a. This initiative was funded through omanoil's successful At'a Campaign that ran during the last ten days of Holy Month of Ramadan. Under the theme 'Together We Give More', At'a campaign donated 10 per cent of all sales from a selected number of ahlain convenience stores in Muscat, Al Batinah, Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, and Salalah to charity. By partnering with Dar Al At'a for the distribution of the stationary supplies, omanoil was able to make a difference in the lives of a large number of schoolchildren and through similar initiatives, inspire and invest in Oman's next generation.
