BIG BOY TAKES PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN TO HARRISBURG
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The spotlight of the

national presidential campaign will fall on Harrisburg when the famous Big Boy takes his "whistle-stop" tour into town Oct. 8 and 9. Big Boy's visit is part of a nationwide "Big Boy for President" campaign that began Sept. 1.
On Thursday, Oct. 8, Big Boy will visit the Harrisburg media. At 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, Big Boy will oversee a mock election at Highland Elementary School, 1325 South Carlisle Road, in Camp Hill.
Highland's fourth- and fifth-grade students will have the opportunity to vote for Big Boy, George Bush or Bill Clinton. According to Steve Davenport, president of Davenport's, Inc., the goal of the mock election is to help make students aware of the election process.
"It's one thing for students to learn about the democratic process in class; it's another for them to actually practice going to the polls," Davenport said.
Nearly 600 Big Boy restaurants nationwide are holding in-store elections for citizens of all ages. Customers can go to any of the Davenport's Big Boy restaurants from now until Oct. 10 and cast a ballot for Big Boy, Bush or Clinton.
Another part of the Big Boy for President campaign is a national contest for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students at 13,000 elementary schools. Students will submit short videos on the theme, "How to be a great president." One video entry will be accepted from each school.
Forty students at each of the five grand-prize-winning schools will receive newly designed Big Boy sportswear. All entrants will receive coupons for free kids' sundaes at Big Boy. For more information, contact Charles Hoak, marketing director for Davenport's, Inc., 717-761-7004.
