BI WINS VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS CONTRACT
BOULDER, Colo., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- BI Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS: BIAC),

the industry leader in electronically monitored systems for corrections, today announced receipt of a contract award from the State of Virginia Department of Corrections. "One of the larger initial orders ever received by BI, Virginia's order of 90 BI Home Escort(TM) units reflects their serious intent regarding electronic home detention and bodes well for future growth of the program," said Richard Willmarth, BI's vice president of sales.
The contract calls for placement of BI's Home Escort units into 10 district sites state-wide, for use by the Probation and Parole division of the Virginia Department of Corrections. Additionally, the contract provides for electronic monitoring services to be supplied by BI's subsidiary, BI Monitoring Corp. of Boulder.
Willmarth further commented, "After an extensive evaluation process, BI is pleased to have been chosen to assist Virginia in the implementation of its first electronically monitored home detention program on the state level. We look forward to working closely with Virginia administrators to implement a successful home detention program."
BI holds approximately a 70 percent share of the electronically monitored home detention market, having shipped 26,000 units. The Virginia Department of Corrections contract adds to BI's strong market presence in the Southeastern region of the United States, as North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida Departments of Corrections are existing customers of BI and its subsidiaries.
