BI INC. ANNOUNCES INTENT TO PURCHASEDIVISION OF SCC COMMUNICATIONS CORP.
BOULDER, Colo., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- BI Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: BIAC), the leading provider of electronic systems solutions for corrections, today announced it has entered into a letter of intent to purchase the Jail Management Systems business of SCC Communications Corp., (SCC) of Boulder. SCC provides jurisdictions throughout the United States with software products for use in managing jail and prison populations. It is BI's intention to merge Jail Management Systems into the existing product/services line currently offered by BI. BI's Executive Vice President of Field Operations, Richard L. Willmarth, said, "The acquisition of Jail Management Systems is in line with BI's strategy to provide an array of systems solutions to both the institutional and community-based sides of the corrections market." BI expects to complete this acquisition no later than Dec. 10, 1993, after a period of due diligence and final approval by BI's board of directors. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Willmarth concluded by saying "Joining BI's PROFILE(TM) for probationers and BI's Continium(TM) software for community corrections, this acquisition represents our third step into the data systems side of our business.
