BI EXPECTS FIRST QUARTER REVENUE, EARNINGS BELOW EXPECTATIONS

BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- BI Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: BIAC), the industry leader in electronically monitored systems for corrections, today announced that first quarter ended Sept. 30, 1993, revenue is expected to be in a range of $5.2 to $5.4 million, with resultant earnings in the break even to marginally profitable range.
David J. Hunter, BI's president and chief executive officer said, "As bullish as I am on the long term viability of the electronic home arrest industry, as we have previously stated, this is not a quarterly business. A single large order either occurring or not occurring in a given period can make or break the quarter's financial result." Hunter further indicated that BI still expects a healthy and profitable year.
Full financial disclosure of BI's first quarter FY94, ended Sept. 30, will be released by the company on Oct. 13.
