BHP Billiton Donates $500K to Hurricane Ike Relief Efforts.

HOUSTON -- BHP Billiton announced today it is making a $500,000 donation to support disaster relief efforts in the communities affected by Hurricane Ike. The funds will be directed to the Greater Houston Area Chapter American Red Cross and the United Way of Greater Houston's Hurricane Recovery Fund.

"Hurricane Ike has caused untold damage along the Gulf Coast and our thoughts are with our employees and those communities impacted by this event. We realize the need for immediate assistance to these affected areas and BHP Billiton is proud to support the efforts of our local agencies in assisting our community," said J.
