BG&E SENDS TECHNICIANS TO HELP RESTORE GAS SERVICE ON LONG ISLAND

BALTIMORE, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Baltimore Gas & Electric Company (NYSE: BGE) is sending more help to storm-battered Long Island, N.Y.
This time it's to help restore gas service to customers affected by last weekend's storm.
Eight employees from BG&E's Gas & Appliance Training Unit will leave Baltimore this afternoon with three service vans and head for the Hicksville Operations Center on Long Island. The vans are equipped with numerous repair tools and parts including pilots and valves. They expect to begin working in New York tomorrow morning and plan to return over the weekend.
In addition to knocking out electrical service to customers, the storm flooded Long Island Lighting Company's (LILCO) gas system, shutting off gas to its customers with gas furnaces and stoves. BG&E's role will be to assist LILCO with hands-on repairs and service restoration.
This is the second request for assistance from Long Island Lighting Company. BG&E sent 80 employees to Long Island on Sunday, Dec. 13, to help restore electric service to its over 450,000 customers affected by the storm. They are expected to return later this week.
