 BG&E BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTS NEW OFFICERS;
 POINDEXTER WILL SUCCEED MCGOWAN JAN. 1, 1993
 BALTIMORE, July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (NYSE: BGE) today elected Christian H. Poindexter, currently vice chairman of the board, as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the company, to be effective Jan. 1, 1993.
 He will succeed George V. McGowan, who will reach the mandatory retirement age of 65 in January 1993, but has chosen to step down on Dec. 31, 1992. McGowan will continue as a member of the company's board of directors.
 The board elected Edward A. Crooke as president and chief operating officer of the company. Crooke has been president of the company's Utility Operations since 1988. He will assume his new responsibilities on Sept. 1, 1992, when the following changes will also become effective:
 George C. Creel, vice president, Nuclear Energy, will become senior vice president, with broadened responsibility for the company's nuclear programs. As of Jan. 1, 1993, Creel will become senior vice president- Generation, responsible for both the Nuclear Energy and Fossil Energy Divisions of the company.
 Robert E. Denton, who has been plant general manager for the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, will move up to vice president, Nuclear Power.
 Charles H. Cruse, currently manager, Nuclear Engineering, will succeed Denton as plant general manager of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant.
 Peter E. Katz, who has been superintendent of technical support services at Calvert Cliffs, will succeed Cruse as manager of Nuclear Engineering.
 In announcing the actions, McGowan said he "will be pleased to leave the management of BG&E in the care of such a highly competent and well- experienced team of executives."
