LARGEST COMPUTER STORE: COMPUSA CHOOSES BEYONDMAIL OVER COMPETITORS
DALLAS, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Beyond Incorporated, a leading enterprisewide e-mail and workgroup applications vendor, today announced that BeyondMail has been selected by CompUSA Incorporated, the nation's largest computer superstore, as its standard PC-LAN e-mail system.
CompUSA selected BeyondMail for its ability to improve communication within and between Dallas headquarters and CompUSA's 31 stores located throughout the country. Currently, eight sites have implemented BeyondMail and the remaining locations will be on-line by the end of November. BeyondMail will initially span approximately 1,000 desktops.
"Any reseller who wants to be successful in this industry needs to be capable of quick communication between all store sites," said Jim Rexroat, PC LAN support manager, CompUSA. "Our store sites often request information on products that are stored in many different databases. Using BeyondMail's rules-based technology it is possible for them to access this information quickly by filling out a BeyondMail form and sending it to the central database at the company headquarters. BeyondMail will access the report library and return the report as an attachment to a BeyondMail message. BeyondMail acts as an application integrator for us, delivering important information throughout our company quickly and seamlessly."
According to Rexroat, CompUSA gave BeyondMail high marks for its rules-based technology. BeyondMail's industrial strength, enterprise capabilities and WAN support were also cited as important for communication between its stores nationwide. Competing e-mail systems considered by CompUSA included DaVinci, cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail and WordPerfect Office.
"We have automated the mailing of our customer newsletter," said Rexroat. "Using BeyondMail, we can trigger the sending of our newsletter for the first of each month and it will be sent automatically. We can automate who it is sent to, only forwarding it to those who have requested it in the past."
"BeyondMail can be used within an organization to streamline communications

through leveraging existing information resources," said President and CEO of Beyond Chuck Digate. "CompUSA is an excellent example of how companies can utilize BeyondMail's advanced rule technology to gain a competitive edge."
BeyondMail combines e-mail with forms management to provide customers with both simple and sophisticated mail-based workgroup applications. Beyond's rules-based technology allows users to easily build a range of applications, from personal mailbox management to corporatewide, workflow applications. The MHS or Vines editions of BeyondMail are priced at $995 for a 10-user license.
Most recently, Beyond introduced BeyondMail for Lotus Notes, providing integration between BeyondMail for Windows and Lotus Notes, Lotus Development Corp.'s workgroup computing environment. BeyondMail for Lotus Notes introduces added functionality to BeyondMail and Lotus Notes users at the desktop, providing Lotus Notes users with full access to the advanced capabilities of BeyondMail.
