BEYOND SHIPS BEYONDMAIL REMOTE ACCESS FOR VINES

BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ --Beyond Incorporated, a leading enterprise-wide e-mail and workgroup applications vendor, today announced the immediate availability of BeyondMail(TM) Remote Access for VINES(TM), a single-user edition of BeyondMail(TM) for users who are traveling away from the network for a period of time and for permanently remote users.
BeyondMail users who are traveling can do the same work they would do if they were using BeyondMail in the office. For example, before leaving the office, the traveling user would download the messages he or she wanted to take on the road as well as the necessary VINES StreetTalk(TM) addresses into a private address book. Once on the road, the user has the ability, without being logged into the network, to create and store messages "to be sent," move messages from one folder to another, delete messages, tickle messages and create and use rules.
To connect into the network, users access VINES PC Dial-in to call into the network from their hotel or off-site office. For instance, use of BeyondMail Remote Access to download all the new messages in the Urgent and Project folders allows the user to receive important mail messages from the office. The rules take care of sorting the less urgent messages into a folder which can be reviewed upon the user's return. BeyondMail Remote Access for VINES provides users with utilities which ease the process of uploading and downloading messages between the network mailbox and the laptop or remote workstation.
Once back in the office, users simply plug the laptop into the network, log in and use BeyondMail Remote Access to upload all the work from the laptop mailbox into the network mailbox.
"The BeyondMail Remote Access provides us with the best way for our attorneys to use laptops and dial into our home office. With four offices across Texas and one in Washington, D.C., our attorneys spend most of their time on the road. Remote Access ensures communication on a daily basis and lets us transfer documents via e-mail, which would ordinarily need to be faxed," said Carol Rumer, manager of legal information services, of Jenkens & Gilchrist, a Texas-based regional law firm. "Communication with our firm's clients is also critical to the attorneys' daily work. Remote Access lets the attorneys remain in constant contact with them."
For permanently remote users working in a location apart from the network, BeyondMail Remote Access allows them to read, write, move, delete and tickle messages, as well as create and use rules. The user only needs to log into the network to download or upload messages using the VINES PC Dial-In. Rules that are used in the network mailbox will pre-filter messages before downloading. For example, one rule might discard all messages about the company's ride-sharing program because you are too far away to participate. Another rule would automatically forward messages about a particular project to another co-worker.
"BeyondMail Remote Access for VINES allows BeyondMail users to have all of the advantages of BeyondMail while away from the office," said Chuck Digate, president and CEO of Beyond, Inc. "With the BeyondMail Remote Access, users can be confident that work and communications are continuing even while they are logged off the network."
BeyondMail Remote Access for VINES for Windows and DOS is priced at $295 and is available immediately direct from Beyond and through Beyond Select Resellers.
