BETZ LABORATORIES, INC. ISSUES PERSONNEL ANNOUNCEMENTS

 TREVOSE, Pa., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- At today's meeting, the board of directors of Betz Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: BTL) accepted the resignation of John F. McCaughan, age 58, as chief executive officer of Betz Laboratories, Inc., effective Jan. 1, 1994. McCaughan will remain chairman of the board.
 In addition to his current role as president, the board elected William R. Cook, age 50, as chief executive officer of Betz Laboratories, Inc. Cook joined Betz in 1972 as a product engineer in the Marketing Services department. He held several managerial positions before becoming one of the key officers in 1981 of the company's newly formed subsidiary, Betz PaperChem, Inc. in Jacksonville, Fla. He was appointed president of PaperChem in 1985 and in 1987, Cook was elected a senior vice president of Betz Laboratories, Inc. at Corporate Headquarters in Trevose. In 1989, he was elected president, chief operating officer and a director of the company.
