BETTY TAKES A BOW; Lollipop lady has new greeting for schoolkids; TV SUPPORT FOR CURBED CROSSING PATROLLER.
A lollipop lady banned from waving at schoolkids has revealed that she has started bowing instead.
Betty Dickson now gives youngsters a wee curtsey to get round council bosses' controversial health and safety crackdown.
The 74-year-old - who was a guest of honour on Chris Evans's TFI Friday TV show after our story on her last week - had been warned waving broke her concentration and put children at risk after a complaint.
Employers Cordia - run by Glasgow City Council - even sent a supervisor to make sure the great-gran followed orders.
Mum-of-five Betty has been a lollipop lady at St Maria Goretti Primary and Lamlash Nursery in Glasgow's Cranhill for two years.
She said: "I've started doing a little bow when children wave to me but I'd prefer to wave.
"My bosses have been going round other patrollers telling them not to wave too. It makes me feel so sad."
Furious parents nominated Betty for an award to show their support.
And she got the VIP treatment on Friday's Channel 4 show along with star guests Coldplay and actors Julieanne Moore and Stanley Tucci.
Betty was given a weekend trip to Blackpool and PS500 to spend although she missed out on a trip abroad as she couldn't find her passport.
But her appearance almost had to be scrapped as bosses initially refused to give her the day off.
