BEST WESTERN'S YOUNG TRAVELERS CLUB ENROLLS MEMBERS; OFFERS FUN, EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

PHOENIX, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Membership in the new Young Travelers Club is exclusive to children staying at the more than 300 participating Best Westerns spanning California, Nevada and Hawaii this summer.
The club, created for families on the move, is intended to spur kids' imagination through a host of fun and educational activities, while recognizing the little vacationers as Best Western's future travelers.
"Best Western's Young Travelers Club is designed to give kids a lasting impression of Best Western," says Sandy Parker-Herr, chairperson of the chain's California, Hawaii and Nevada cooperative promotional program. "Someday these children will be traveleing, perhaps with kids of their own. We want them to remember the fun they had with us when they grow up."
The Young Travelers Club program will kick off this spring with membership applications available at the front desks of Best Westerns in California, Hawaii and Nevada. As applications are received, a data base will be created with the names of members and their parents.
Each application will be sent a letter, welcoming him/her to the club, along with a membership card, enabling the holder to participate in future promotions at Best Westners in those states.
In mid-May, each club member will receive an invitation in the mail to use his/her membership card at a Best Western while vacationing in California, Hawaii or Nevada to receive a free Young Travelers Club travel pack. Also included with the invitation are a sheet of stickers illustrating various vacation activities, as well as a fold-up puzzle.
The Young Travelers Club travel pack, assembled with items to keep youngsters occupied while traveleing, contains a plastic tote bag featuring Mr. Friendly, a personified globe with arms and legs who is the club's mascot; a 24-count package of Wikki Stix, bendable, twistable hands-on playthings ideal for long trips in the car; and a 16-page activity book with games and puzzles that utilize the Wikki Stix.
An illustrated kids' map of the three states is also included in the travel pack. This colorful map features games relating to geography.
Furthering immediate participation, the Young Travelers Club application invites kids to play an active role in the future development of the club by asking them to rename the club's mascot and to submit their favorite game or puzzle to be included in next year's activity book. Additional activities relating to the Young Travelers Club are currently in the planning stages, according to Parker-Herr.
