BEST BUY ANNOUNCES MARKETING PROMOTIONS

MINNEAPOLIS, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY) announced today the promotion of Lee Schoenfeld to senior vice president-marketing and Randy Zanatta to vice president-marketing & merchandising.
Schoenfeld assumes responsibility for marketing and advertising and joins the company's senior executive committee. He began with Best Buy in 1978 as a sales person. During his 15 years with the company, he has held positions as store manager and merchandise manager before his promotion to vice president-marketing in 1986.
Zanatta, as VP-marketing & merchandising, assumes responsibility for merchandising and purchasing of all product categories. Zanatta has been with the company for 13 years and, like Schoenfeld, started as a sales person. He moved through the ranks to store manager and then into marketing, becoming a VP in 1986.
"We are proud of their contributions during our growth and confident in the team they have assembled. They have played a significant role in the development of Best Buy from an audio specialist to today's broadly based, market dominant retailer," said Brad Anderson, president and COO.
Best Buy is the nation's second largest specialty consumer electronics and major appliance retailer. The company, now in its 27th year, sells nationally recognized, name brand, consumer electronic products, home office products, major appliances and photographic equipment at 117 stores located in 16 states (Minnesota, Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, Colorado, South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Michigan and Ohio). Best Buy's common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange, symbol BBY.
