BERGEN BRUNSWIG COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF HEALTHCARE DISTRIBUTORS OF INDIANA INC.
ORANGE, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Bergen Brunswig Corp. (AMEX: BBC) announced today that a subsidiary of Bergen Brunswig completed, on Friday, Jan. 29, the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of Healthcare Distributors of Indiana Inc. HDI, a private company located in South Bend, Ind., has an annual sales volume of approximately $140 million. The transaction, which includes an exchange of stock and the assumption of certain liabilities, is valued at approximately $14 million. "HDI is a fine company, known to Bergen Brunswig for many years," Robert E. Martini, chairman and chief executive officer of Bergen Brunswig Corp., said. "The combination between Bergen and HDI complements our existing regional distribution center in Williamston, Mich., and provides us with substantially improved access to the important Indiana and Illinois markets."
