BENJAMIN PAYTON JOINS MORRISON BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 MOBILE, Ala., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Benjamin F. Payton, Ph.D., the president of Tuskegee University, has been elected to the board of directors of Morrison Restaurants Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: MORR), the 10th- largest food service company in the United States.
 Dr. Payton is also a director of AmSouth Bancorporation; the ITT Corporation; Sonat Inc.; the Sheraton Corporation; Praxair, Inc.; and the Liberty Corporation. He is a trustee for the Council for Aid to Education, the Challenger Center for Space Science Education, and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. He serves on numerous committees for non- profit and charitable organizations, including Dartmouth College, the Business-Higher Education Forum, Harvard University, the National Consortium for Education Access, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
 Prior to his tenure at Tuskegee, Dr. Payton was a program officer for the Ford Foundation in New York. He was president of Benedict College in South Carolina, director of the Department of Social Justice at the National Council of Churches in New York, and an assistant professor at Howard University in Washington. Dr. Payton received his Ph.D. from Yale University, his master's degree from Columbia University, and bachelor's degrees from Harvard University and South Carolina State College.
 Dr. Payton was elected at the annual meeting of the stockholders of Morrison Restaurants Inc. on Sept. 29, in Mobile. He will serve a three- year term on the nine-member board.
 Morrison owns and operates more than 400 restaurants, including Morrison Cafeterias, Ruby Tuesday Restaurants, Silver Spoon Cafes, L&N Seafood Grills, and Sweetpea's Restaurants. The company is also one of the nation's largest providers of contract food service, with more than 900 clients in over 40 states. It is a publicly traded company, previously through NASDAQ and currently with an application pending for a New York Stock Exchange listing.
