BENGUET'S DIZON COPPER OPERATIONS RESUMES SHIPMENTS
MANDALUYONG, Metro Manila, Philippines, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/ --

Dennis R. Belmonte, president and chief executive officer of Benguet Corporation (NYSE: BE) disclosed on Dec. 20, that the company's Dizon Copper-Gold Operation (DCO) at Pili, San Marceline, Zambales has resumed shipments of copper concentrates.
Three shipments with a total load of 15,144 DMT is set to be completed this December. For the past several months, shipments were suspended due to the accumulation of lahar and floodwaters caused by the Pinatubo eruption which isolated the Dizon mine until the construction of an alternate road was completed on Nov. 9, 1991. This alternate road will be connected to an existing road which was not affected by lahar.
