Auctioneer Richard Evans of Welshpool Livestock Sales, said he was delighted with the quality of stock shown and offered for sale . Judge Mr David Thornley from Ashby de la Zouch awarded the male and Supreme Champion to the Cennen Flock a yearling Ram Cennen Nut Cracker bred by GJ & RA Williams Blaencennen Farm.
Sired by Llwynbrian Lawyer, Nut Cracker went on to achieve 1800gns, purchased by I & J Evans, Llwyn Hywel Farm, Llanilar. From the same flock was the first placed ram Lamb and reserve male champion, Cennen Prince which was secured with a bid of 800gns by D L Jones Ddol, Llanbadarn Fynydd.
The reserve supreme Champion was awarded to Whatmore Nectar a yearling ewe presented by S A Morris.
Nectar had earlier taken the female championship and went onto achieve 1000gns purchased by D L Jones Ddol Llanbadarn Fynydd.
First Placed ewe lamb and reserve Female Champion went to H Hughes & R Jenkins Hughes, Pwll Peiran, from the Pantgwyn Flock which was purchased by R J Shaw, Steenwood Cots, Admaston, Rugeley for 400gns using the pounds 100 voucher from the Welsh and Border Beltex Club . Top price of the day was achieved by Michael Owen of the Glantre Flock when a yearling ram Glantre Napolean, sired by Airyolland Loyality, was sold for a sale topping pounds 2100. Mr Owen went on to sell 16 yearling rams to average pounds 872.50 per head. Averages: 72 yearlings rams pounds 637.15, 25 Ram Lambs pounds 316.68 15 yearling ewes pounds 450, 4 ewe lambs pounds 385.88 1 aged ewe pounds 609.
