BELOIT TO DESIGN, SUPPLY DEINKING SYSTEM FOR
STATE-OF-THE-ART WEST COAST RECYCLING MILL
MILWAUKEE, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Beloit Corporation announced today that it has been selected to design and supply equipment for a $50 million, state-of-the-art recycling mill being built by Boise Cascade Corporation (NYSE: BCC) in West Tacoma, Wash.
The mill is designed to recycle 300 tons of post consumer newspaper and magazines per day, employing Beloit's innovative Pressurized Deinking Modules (PDMs)(TM). Manufactured by Beloit's fiber systems division in Dalton., Mass., the PDMs produce better quality deinked pulp faster than conventional atmospheric deinking methods.
When completed in the summer of 1993, Boise's West Tacoma mill will be capable of producing 225 tons of newsprint per day with 40 percent recycled fiber content, making it a world-class, low-cost producer of recycled newsprint.
"The West Tacoma project is a unique opportunity for us to demonstrate our leadership in the recycling and deinking field," said John McKay, president of Beloit Corporation, a subsidiary of Harnischfeger Industries (NYSE: HPH). "We have made substantial investments in advancing the technology for improved recycled fiber quality and productivity. It is gratifying to see those investments paying off on a global scale."
Harnischfeger Industries is a diversified international holding company that operates four subsidiaries involved in: papermaking machinery manufacturing (Beloit Corporation); surface mining and overhead material handling equipment manufacturing (Harnischfeger Corporation); and systems integration services (Harnischfeger Engineers, Inc., and Syscon Corporation).
