BELLSOUTH WINS TOP TREASURY AWARD

 WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS) was today awarded the Golden Eagle Award by the Department of the Treasury's Savings Bonds Division. The Golden Eagle is the highest and most prestigious award presented by the Department of the Treasury and was established to recognize companies which have outstanding participation in their Savings Bonds programs.
 To qualify, a company must have at least 50 percent of employees corporatewide enrolled in the Payroll Savings Plan and at least 3,000 employees who, during that year's campaign, were first-time buyers or increased their allotments.
 BellSouth is one of 33 recipients nationwide to receive the award for 1993. The presentations will be made today by Kate Todd Beach, acting treasurer of the United States, as a special luncheon being held to honor the recipients.
 BellSouth is an international telecommunications holding company. Its subsidiaries offer local telephone service in nine Southeastern states and mobile communications services worldwide, provide advertising and publishing services, and market and maintain stand- alone and fully integrated communications systems.
