BELLSOUTH TELECOMMUNICATIONS TO REDEEM DEBENTURES

 ATLANTA, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc., a subsidiary of BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS), announced that it will redeem on Sept. 27, the following debenture issue:
 Forty year 8 percent debentures, due Feb. 15, 2014 in the aggregate principal amount of $300 million issued by Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company. The redemption price will be 103.33 percent of the principal amount plus accrued interest to the redemption date. The name of the trustee and paying agent is: Barnett Bank of Jacksonville, N.A. They may be reached in care of Barnett Banks Trust Company, N.A., P.O. Box 11249, Church Street Station, Bond Redemption Unit, New York, NY 10277-0758.
 BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc., with headquarters in Atlanta, provides telecommunications services in the nine-state BellSouth region.
