BELLSOUTH OFFERS MULTIPLE 'MAILBOX,' VOICE MESSAGING OPTIONS
 FOR HOME TELEPHONE ANSWERING SERVICE
ATLANTA, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth has announced two new residential options for its popular MemoryCall(R) telephone answering service that allow messages to be left for specific individuals at home or for messages to be sent to other MemoryCall service customers.
With Personal Mailbox service, residential customers can have up to four "mailboxes" associated with their home telephone number, said Nancy Crocker, product marketing manager for BellSouth Telecommunications. "For example, incoming callers might press '1' to leave a message for you, '2' for your husband, and '3' for the kids," she explained. "Roommates also will appreciate this service."
Crocker said that since each mailbox can be accessed with its own individual code, family members or roommates can maintain their privacy.
Residential Messaging service allows a residential MemoryCall service customer to record and send a message to up to 25 other MemoryCall service customers at one time. The people who receive this message will be able to receive and respond to it, even if they don't have the messaging option.
"Anyone in charge of a club or team knows how much time and effort this feature can save you," Crocker said. "In just a minute, you can keep everyone up-to-date -- and even receive feedback -- without having to track down and talk to each person."
The Personal Mailbox service will cost $2 a month in addition to normal MemoryCall service charges. It is being introduced first in Jackson, Miss. Residential Messaging service is also available for an additional $2 a month and is being introduced now in Atlanta, Nashville and Memphis, Tenn. Both options are expected to be available throughout BellSouth next year.
BellSouth offers MemoryCall service in most of its nine-state area. The company has sold over 375,000 residential mailboxes and over 60,000 business mailboxes since introducing the service three years ago.
