BELLSOUTH MOBILITY ANNOUNCES PROGRAM WITH AMERICAN EXPRESS
                   TRAVEL RELATED SERVICES COMPANY
ATLANTA, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth Mobility (BMI) announced today a program with American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc. (TRS) to provide special pricing and other features to American Express(R) Card members in BMI markets in the Southeast.
The program makes available to American Express Card members cellular phones at reduced prices, as well as special cellular calling feature packages. Calls are itemized monthly and billed directly to the Card member's American Express account, making it easy to track expenses.
BellSouth Mobility provides cellular service in more than 26 major cities and surrounding areas in seven southeastern states. This program for American Express Card members is available only in those cities.
"We believe this is the most extensive program of its kind," said Jim Thorpe, vice president of marketing, BellSouth Cellular Corp. "And, it's the first time BellSouth Mobility has teamed up with a credit or charge card company to offer such an extensive package of cellular products and service."
In general, the agreement enables American Express Card members, who are not currently BellSouth Mobility cellular customers, to purchase, at significant savings, high quality Motorola portable phones through American Express' Connect Plus(SM), a program that offers telecommunications services to Card members.
"American Express is very pleased to be working with BellSouth Mobility on this important and rich portfolio of services and values for our Card members who want to be cellular phone customers," said Norma Arnold, senior vice president, Establishment Services, TRS. "Our Card members will appreciate the high quality Motorola products and BellSouth Mobility's state-of-the-art features and benefits."
Cellular calling benefits included in the package are: call waiting; 60 days of complimentary Mobile Memo, a voice mail service; and detailed billing to the American Express Card.
The types of packages vary depending on the type of Card the customer holds. Personal (Green) Card members will receive call waiting; 60 days of Mobile Memo, a voice mail service; and detailed billing to the American Express Card.
Small Business Corporate Card(R) members will receive all the above, plus the call forwarding feature as part of their package.
Gold Card(R) members will receive the same feature package as the Small Business Corporate Card member, plus three-party conference calling.
Platinum Card(R) members will receive no-answer transfer, which allows cellular phone calls to be transferred to another number after a preset number of rings; 30 additional days of Mobile Memo for a total of 90 days; in addition to all the other features offered as part of their cellular service package. An added benefit for Platinum Card members is that they can purchase BellSouth Mobility data communications products such as cellular modems, laptops and facsimile machines at cost.
All BellSouth Mobility customers also receive additional service benefits such as 24-hour, seven-day-a-week Customer Service, Follow Me Roaming(R)(a) service in more than 500 cities across the U.S. and Canada, automatic roaming in more than 900 cities across North America, free 911 calls and a host of other value-added benefits.
