          BELLSOUTH, SAWGRASS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE PARK
            ENTER STRATEGIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS AGREEMENT
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- As one might expect, a planned development on the scale of Sawgrass International Corporate Park near Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is exactly that -- a planned development.
Architectural styles, protective covenants and intricately designed work environments all blend to make Sawgrass one of the nation's premier, master-planned developments.
For Sawgrass International's developer, Stiles Corporation of Fort Lauderdale, the same level of precision involved in planning, building and managing a new corporate site now extends to its telecommunications planning.
As one of the first participants in BellSouth's FirstPark(sm) Services program, Stiles has taken its full-service concept one step farther with prospective tenants. By working hand-in-hand with Southern Bell, BellSouth's telephone operating unit in Florida, Stiles can now offer clients access to advanced telecommunications technology, long-range communications planning services and personalized, communications consulting and service support.
The agreement for FirstPark Services at Sawgrass was signed recently by Stiles Corporation and its joint venture partner in the development, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Credit Corporation of Pittsburgh.
In an age when decisions involving site selection and facility planning are an integral part of companies' strategic business plans, Sawgrass International Corporate Park tenants will reap the benefits of a planned, strategic approach to telecommunications deployment and service, said Rod Odom, BellSouth Telecommunications vice president - Marketing.
"Communications and information systems technologies are playing a much more critical role in today's strategic business planning," Odom said. "In today's service-based, Information Age business environment, most businesses are interested in how the combination of high-technology communications and advanced information processing can increase their operating efficiency and productivity.
"The availability of state-of-the-art communications technology has become an important consideration in site selection for these businesses. That's because virtually every aspect of their daily operations -- from sales negotiations to customer relations and supplier orders -- depends on the performance and continuity of its communications system," Odom said.
"FirstPark Services is a way BellSouth is bringing all of its resources to bear on a customer's need for advanced telecommunications technologies and sophisticated planning support. It represents a comprehensive planning approach to telecommunications technology deployment, and in providing the personalized service support that tenants in a planned development desire."
Terry Stiles, managing partner of the Stiles/Westinghouse joint venture, agrees that the FirstPark Services program can be an added attraction for prospective tenants.
"Sawgrass International Corporate Park's positive reputation in the marketplace has already attracted several major corporations and keeps prospect inquiries coming in daily. With FirstPark Services, we can offer these companies state-of-the-art telecommunications technology that will help them keep pace with the demands of the future."
Businesses located within the park will have access to the most advanced and sophisticated services on the market, thanks to a prior Southern Bell commitment to install the company's first, total fiber optics switching center at the site.
With FirstPark Services, these businesses will enjoy the added benefits of having access to the latest digital and fiber-optic technology, enhanced communications, and assigned technicians and service representatives for direct ordering, billing and maintenance assistance.

Building activity in the park stands at almost 1.5 million square feet completed to date, with a projected build-out of 6.9 million square feet by the year 2000.
