BELL ATLANTIC WINS $18.7 MILLION GSA TELECOMMUNICATIONS CONTRACT
WASHINGTON, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Administrator Richard G. Austin of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the award of a 10-year contract with an estimated value of $18,676,347 to Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc., of Silver Spring, Md., for telecommunications service and equipment at federal locations in three eastern states.
The award, covering Eastern Zone II of GSA's Aggregated System Procurement (ASP) program, is for commercially available integrated voice and data telecommunications equipment and/or services, operation, training, billing, maintenance and management.
Austin said the contract will provide federal agencies at GSA consolidated locations in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia with enhanced local telecommunications services. When fully implemented, the proposed system will serve approximately eight locations and 3,700 main station lines.
The procurement was conducted competitively, Austin said, and it will provide the latest, state-of-the-art technology and interface with FTS2000, the long distance telecommunications network operated by GSA.
Austin said GSA will monitor the program, provide assistance and exercise contract administration and system management.
A similar contract, for service at federal locations in four western states was awarded by GSA in January. Offers for seven additional procurements to serve other parts of the country are under evaluation.
