Oil-free, high-grade quality compressed air is indispensable for the processing of food. At the Anuga FoodTec 2012, BEKO TECHNOLOGIES will present the certified METPOINT(r) OCV measuring system for the reliable monitoring of the residual oil content in compressed air.

Not even oil-free compressors are guarantors for oil-free compressed air in consequence of the ambient/intake air. The more important requirement is to carry out the precise monitoring of the oil vapour content and to ensure that it is possible at all times.

The METPOINT(r) OCV residual oil monitoring device from BEKO offers safety during the running process. It continuously measures the residual oil vapour content in the compressed-air flow. When a critical value is exceeded, the production can be stopped immediately before any damage from oil-containing compressed air occurs.

With METPOINT(r) OCV, analyses down to a range of 1/1,000 mg/m3 are possible. The device is network-compatible, has a touch screen display and offers 24/7 process safety through online measurement.

Currently, METPOINT(r) OCV is the only online measuring method for the residual oil vapour content in compressed air that is certified by TUV (German technical inspection association).

Compressed air contaminated by oil is pure poison for the quality of food and beverages. With BEKOKAT(r) a reliable method for the prevention of compressedair and compressed-gas contamination in the food and beverage industry is presented to the interest of qualified visitors.

Year after year, costly damage occurs in the manufacturing and processing plants of food producers as a result of faults in the compressed-air system. The main reason for this is the penetration of oil and germs into the compressed-air system that is detected too late, and the uncontrolled advancement to the points of consumption, which results in contaminated products, stoppages, cancellation expenses, and not least in an image loss vis-a-vis purchasers and users.

Not even the employment of an oilfree compressor is a guarantee for truly hydrocarbon-free compressed air a considerable remaining risk existed up until today. It is quite obvious that a new technology of the German compressed-air and compressed-gas provider is capable of changing this. Its BEKOKAT(r) catalysis method implements compressed-air purity with a residual oil content of a barely measurable 0.003 milligrams per cubic metre of compressed air. With this, the German development exceeds the requirements of ISO 8573-1 for oil-free compressed air of class 1 with 0.01 milligrams per cubic metre by far.

Catalysis with BEKOKAT(r) devices realizes the total oxidation of hydrocarbons meaning in a concentrated, comprehensive process step subsequent to compression. Furthermore, there is an additional benefit particularly for the food and beverage industry: compressed air treated by means of catalysis is reliably germ-free.
