BEI ELECTRONICS SELLS SEATON-WILSON DIVISION

 SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- BEI Electronics, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: BEII), a San Francisco-based diversified technology company, announced today that it has sold the business and assets of its Seaton-Wilson Division to the Whittaker Corporation (NYSE: WKR) of Los Angeles. According to BEI, the sale was for cash. Additional terms were not disclosed.
 Peter G. Paraskos, president and chief executive officer of BEI, explained that the divestiture is consistent with BEI's strategic plan to intensify its focus on growth initiatives for its motion systems, sensors and medical products businesses and to decrease its dependence on military components business.
 The Seaton-Wilson unit manufactures and sells pneumatic and hydraulic valves and specialized disconnect systems designed for aerospace and defense applications. Paraskos added, "BEI is especially pleased with this sale because it so well accommodates the strategic goals of both BEI and Whittaker." He also expressed confidence that Seaton-Wilson's customers will continue to be well served under Whittaker management.
 BEI Electronics designs, manufactures and markets a wide variety of specialized sensors, motors, control systems and precision components for use in industrial, commercial, medical and military applications, and is the sole supplier of the HYDRA 70 Rocket System.
