BDM AWARDED JITC CONTRACT MCLEAN, Va., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- BDM International, Inc.
(BDM), has been awarded a multi-year omnibus contract to support the Joint Interoperability Test Center (JITC) at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. The contract has a base period of two years plus three one-year options and a total potential value of approximately $116.6 million, according to Philip A. Odeen, president and CEO of the professional and technical services company.
This omnibus effort involves planning and conducting tests to asses the interoperability of tactical and strategic Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence (C3I) systems employed in joint or combined military operations. BDM is to provide test planning, analysis, reporting and data management services, as well as testbed design and implementation at JITC. BDM will also support JITC in operational test and evaluation of large-scale information management systems developed by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and other government organizations. BDM's JITC support office at Fort Huachuca is managed by Vice President William D. Farmer. The work is being performed by a subsidiary, BDM Engineering Services Company (BDMESC), supported by other BDM offices, operations and staff as required. "We are especially pleased with this award because the work represents the kind of test and evaluation effort which will be of increasing importance over the next several years. This win is a key part of BDM's renewed effort to be a major participant in test and evaluation support for major Department of Defense programs," commented Odeen. JITC has already selected BDM as the lead contractor for a multi- million dollar task to complete development of the Joint Interoperability Evaluation System (JIES). The JIES is a state-of- the-art distributed testbed that will be used to test the interoperability of tactical digital information link (TADIL) systems and certify their use for joint and combined operations. John K. Wetter, who will serve as JIES Project Manager, explained that JIES will provide scenario generation, environment simulation, TADIL system simulation, real-time test control, data collection, and analysis capabilities to support interoperability testing. "Under the new tasking," Farmer said, "BDM will complete the JIES design, develop the software using the Ada programming language, integrate the hardware and software, and implement the JIES at the JITC and several major Service/Agency test locations." BDM's teaming partners for the JITC omnibus contract include Arinc Research Corporation, Betac Corporation, Engineering/Documentation Systems, Inc., Nations, Inc., and Technology Applications, Inc.
