BCBSM HOLIDAY BASKET DRIVE SETS RECORD THIS YEAR
DETROIT, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Holiday food baskets have been

donated and delivered to 730 families in 22 area communities by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) employees.
Employees increased their contributions by 40 percent in recognition of this year's greater needs. Cases of food also were donated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and other area organizations.
The effort was organized by the BCBSM Five Year Club, which for the past 32 years has collected food and cash donations from employees and held fund-raising events in order to meet requests for Christmas baskets.
"The true spirit of the holidays was reflected in the hundreds of employees who volunteered to donate food, pack baskets, load cars and deliver baskets to families," said Richard E. Whitmer, BCBSM president and chief executive officer.
