BBQ tips from an expert; TASTE II Is your summer all about the sound of sausages sizzling al fresco? Then, says outdoor eater Rachel Mainwaring, you definitely won't want to miss picking up some tips from chef Angela Gray's barbecue cookery course.
E all think we can barbecue, right? WHeat up the grill, stick some sausages on, turn them over a few times, add a roll and ketchup, and you're done.
Well, for all you so-called experts out there, barbecuing food is an art in its own right - and you can now go to school to learn how to do it properly under the expertise of Welsh chef Angela Gray.
As the weather improves and we start to turn our thoughts to barbecues and cooking great food to share with friends, you now have the chance to try out a barbecue cookery school.
The Weber Grill Academy has partnered up with Angela Gray's Cookery School in Llanerch, near Cardiff, so that you can learn proper barbecuing skills that will seriously impress your friends.
The day will be packed with useful hints and tips while creating a delicious fourcourse meal on various barbecues, using an assortment of Weber accessories.
The course costs PS100 and teaches all-round cooking skills to get the most out of your barbecue.
Lighting both gas and charcoal, how to control the temperature of the barbecue, getting the most out of using the heat and space on the grill and discovering the different cooking methods to enjoy a variety of dishes are all part of the learning experience.
Participants will learn how to grill, roast and bake on the barbecue and throughout the day, they'll be shown how to prepare anything from roasts to risottos, pork loin to puddings!
Angela, who set up her cookery school five years ago, says: "We are really excited about our new partnership with Weber Grill Academy BBQ and running the courses at Llanerch. This will bring a new dimension to our programme and to the corporate events we offer. Our purposebuilt chalet will allow us to BBQ all year round and we look forward to developing courses and events for the future."
And Chris Trewhitt, Weber UK marketing manager, said: "The Angela Gray Cookery School is the perfect place for a Grill Academy experience, our first one in Wales. This school creates a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and really teaches you, step-by-step, the Weber way of barbecuing."
