BBMB Kewangan Berhad, Malaysia's 4th largest finance company, selects PROFILE/Anyware for enterprise-wide solution.

MALVERN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 8, 1997--Sanchez Computer Associates, Inc., (NASDAQ: SCAI) today announced an agreement to provide PROFILE/Anyware banking systems to BBMB Kewangan Berhad (BBMBKB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad, making this the first PROFILE/Anyware client in Asia.

BBMBKB and Sanchez have already launched the initial implementation phase of the PROFILE/Anyware Integrated Banking System and the PROFILE/Anyware Financial Management System as part of an accelerated IT modernization project at BBMBKB, a 40-branch, 1,000-employee financial institution devoted to consumer financial services.

Digital Equipment Corporation is supplying computer hardware for the project, which is being program-managed by Ernst & Young.

"Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand all have fast growing, highly competitive financial services sectors that require new technology infrastructures," said Frank R. Sanchez, President of Sanchez Computer Associates. "In Malaysia, for instance, most consumers can only access a savings account from the branch at which they opened their account. PROFILE/Anyware solves this problem by offering banks an enterprise-wide online processing system which provides the institution with dramatic competitive advantages at lowered cost. The situation is comparable to what we've seen in Central Europe, where PROFILE is now very well accepted."

BBMB Kewangan Berhad and it's parent, Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad, are based in Kuala Lumpur and comprise one of Malaysia's fastest growing banking groups. Malaysia itself has shown a sustained economic growth of approximately 8% per annum over recent years and is postured to become one of the technological hubs in the region.

Based in Malvern, PA, with offices in Jakarta, Prague, Warsaw, and Lisbon, Sanchez Computer Associates is a leader in providing integrated software solutions and services for financial institutions worldwide. Its principal products are PROFILE/Anyware, an electronic banking server that supports emerging delivery channel technologies as well as front- and back-office processing requirements of financial institutions; PROFILE/FMS (Financial Management System), a multi-company, multi-currency cost-center based accounting system; and PROFILE/ITS (Integrated Treasury System), a system that processes treasury transactions including foreign exchange, money market, securities trading (capital markets), futures, options and trade finance.
