BBC Audiobooks America enters the retail market.
A retail audiobook publishing programme is being launched by BBC Audiobooks America, a publisher and distributor of audiobooks and radio dramatisations, marking its entry into the US trade market.
The company said the trade programme will incorporate two imprints, including BBC Audio featuring contemporary best-sellers and BBC Radio offering dramatised recordings that were first made for broadcast.
BBC Audiobooks America confirmed that it will work with Perseus Distribution to distribute the products, according to The Book Standard.
The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid will be the first title to be released. Forthcoming titles include a recording of Alex Hayley's Roots, read by Avery Brooks; Virginia Woolf's To The Lighthouse, performed by a full cast including Vanessa Redgrave; and The Complete Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes box set.
