 BAYVILLE HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER NAMED GOLDEN APPLE TEACHER
 TRENTON, N.J., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- David Leperi, a math teacher


at Central Regional High School in Bayville, N.J., was named CTN's Golden Apple Teacher for the month of February 1992 by the Cable Television Network of New Jersey.
 The Golden Apple Teacher Award is presented monthly by the Cable Television Network to a New Jersey teacher who has been nominated by his or her students for exceptional creativity and dedication in the classroom. The teacher is given statewide recognition by CTN and is featured in a 60-second public service announcement that airs throughout the month on CTN.
 "Receiving an award like this is the culmination of many years of teaching and caring," Leperi said. "I am very honored and pleased that I received this because it came from my students."
 Leperi has been teaching at Central Regional High School for the past 19 years. He is a graduate of Jersey City State College and received this master's degree from Trenton State College in 1977.
 In her nominating letter, Melissa Mendez wrote, "I had thought about quitting school, but Mr. Leperi helped me change my mind. I am successful in school now, and I owe a great deal to Mr. Leperi and his teaching."
 In addition to his teaching, Leperi is very involved with several community organizations for the disabled. He is involved in the Special Olympics, the Ocean County Commission for the Handicapped and operates the High Point Inn, a kitchen facility for the handicapped in a private school setting.
 Leperi is also the head baseball coach and assistant head soccer coach at Point Pleasant Beach High School.
 The Golden Apple Award is in its third year of honoring New Jersey's educators. Students who wish to nominate their teacher for an award should compose a letter, of 50 words or less on why their teacher deserves an award.
