BAYSIDE POSTS SIGNIFICANT SALES GAIN IN 1992
MIAMI, March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- As Bayside prepares to celebrate

its fifth anniversary on April 8, Bayside executives reported significant sales increases of 21 percent in February and 10 percent in January over comparable sales in 1991.
"We are very excited about the 1992 sales increase at Bayside," said Raul D. Tercilla, vice president and general manager of Bayside. "Our customers are embracing our new look. We've taken our strengths and built upon them to become an even better shopping and dining destination for Miamians and visitors alike."
Bayside's significant sales gain could be attributed to the $11 million renovation and remerchandising efforts completed in November 1992. The changes connected Bayside with Biscayne Bay by reorienting the 235,000-square-foot marketplace towards the water. The renovations also improved the flow of people through the project and added additional national retailers to Bayside's popular locally owned entrepreneurs.
Sales increases continue along the water-side as a new outdoor cafe, Snappers, opened Dec. 6 overlooking Fisherman's Wharf. Snappers features water-side dining and the fresh catch of the day from local fishermen. The new Fisherman's Wharf was opened in November 1990 and the Quay Wall was restored which allows boats, yachts and other pleasure craft to dock alongside the promenade next to Bayside.
Bayside is continuing to bring exciting restaurants and retailers to the Miami market, including the newly signed Lombardi's. Lombardi's/Miami will combine the Italian restaurant flair and food quality that the Lombardi's name is famous for in Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix and Orlando, with a full Italian gelateria which will make and sell 24 flavors of ice cream both by the flavor and in alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The restaurant will also offer live entertainment in the outdoor patio area each evening featuring live, high energy bands covering the full range of music popular in the Miami area.
Another new addition to Bayside is Art Awakening's Artist Row located along Fisherman's Wharf. Similar to the Paris concept, this artist colony will highlight local South Florida artists who will exhibit and sell their oils, acrylics, pastel paintings and metal sculptures.
Bayside Marketplace is a 250,000-square-foot urban marketplace that includes restaurants, shops, markets, entertainment in two buildings and a market square focused on the 150 slip Miamarina. Bayside Marketplace is South Florida's number one visitor destination.
