 BAUSCH & LOMB INTRODUCES CLEAR, ALCOHOL-FREE MOUTHWASH
 ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Bausch & Lomb (NYSE: BOL)


today announced its plans to significantly expand its participation in the oral care market with the introduction of a new, clear, alcohol-free mouthwash to be marketed under the trade name "Clear Choice(tm)". The new mouthwash is manufactured by the company's Personal Products Division at its Greenville, S.C. plant and will be available in drug stores, mass merchants and supermarkets starting in October.
 Surveys of dental professionals and consumers show that both groups will favor a mouthwash which is effective in killing germs and freshening breath without the alcohol content that is characteristic of the mouthwashes on the market today. Leading brands of mouthwash contain up to 27 percent alcohol.
 Bausch & Lomb has achieved prominence in the over-the-counter personal health market primarily through its leading lines of contact lens care and eyecare products. The new Clear Choice mouthwash leverages the company's strengths in OTC distribution channels, as well as its superior solutions manufacturing technology. The product introduction will be supported by one of the most aggressive marketing efforts in the company's history, with more than $15 million allocated for the consumer launch and trade sales promotion.
 Bausch & Lomb also leads the oral care field with its Interplak(R) home plaque removal instrument, which is recommended most by dental professionals and widely accepted by consumers.
