BAT INTERNATIONAL DEMONSTRATES QUICK CHARGE BATTERIES FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE

 WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- BAT International Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BAAT) (BAT) has successfully demonstrated an inexpensive lead acid battery that can be recharged 85 percent in 18 minutes.
 The battery uses a double catalyst system which also makes it maintenance free with no external gassing. The batteries will be only slightly more expensive than standard lead acid batteries, adding only the additional low cost of the catalyst.
 Both Chrysler and Nissan are developing their own quick charge batteries based on nickel/cadmium. Nickel/cadmium batteries are 10-20 times more costly than lead acid batteries, and cadmium is also unfriendly to the environment and presents recycling problems.
 BAT is planning a cross-country demonstration drive with one of its new assembly line Ranger trucks modified for hybrid operation. This demonstration will include quick recharging of its new batteries at selected utility company sites.
 BAT is also making arrangements to test the lead acid quick charge batteries at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory.
 Electric Vehicle Safety
 Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California and BAT International are jointly working to develop computer-simulated crash testing for electric vehicles. This interaction is designed to benefit the entire electric vehicle industry.
 For this preliminary study, BAT is furnishing one of its new assembly line Ford Ranger trucks converted to electric operation. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is furnishing the finite- element analysis expertise. As test results are analyzed, both organizations will confer on structural issues that can improve safety.
 BAT is an environmental research and development company presently producing electric Ford Ranger trucks.
 BAT makes electric vehicles more practical by mass producing EVs in order to achieve the desired quality and economy of scale, and by producing batteries for EVs that last for 100,000 miles (20,000 miles is the industry norm), plus many other attributes.
