BARRYMORE SUICIDE THREAT.
The troubled television presenter has given his first interview since the body of 31-year-old Stuart Lubbock was found in the pool at Barrymore's mansion in Roydon, near Harlow, Essex.
In the interview to be aired on Tonight with Trevor McDonald on Tuesday, Barrymore, who left Cheryl - his wife and manager of 22 years, also confessed he had never really loved anyone, it was reported.
In an emotional heart-to-heart with Martin Bashir, who famously interviewed Diana, Princess of Wales, Barrymore said: 'I'm an addict and an alcoholic. For the first time in my life I can honestly say I am beginning to face up to that. I'd rather die than come off the wagon again.'
Mr Lubbock had been invited back to the mansion for a drink by Barrymore after a night out which ended up at a club.
On the events that followed, Barrymore said: 'I saw the body and felt sick. My friend John called the ambulance and police. I'm ashamed to say I just panicked and ran away to stay with a friend in the village.'
Barrymore was arrested after the drowning and received a police caution for possessing cannabis and allowing it to be used at his home.
