BARNETT OFFERS LATE FILERS HOPE FOR EARLY RETURNS

BARNETT OFFERS LATE FILERS HOPE FOR EARLY RETURNS
 JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- If you've been

putting off filing your tax return, April 15 is fast approaching; if you end up entitled to a refund, it will take as many as eight weeks. Barnett Bank can help cut both the refund turn-around time, as well as calculation errors.
Barnett is the only bank in Florida offering an electronic tax filing service to taxpayers. Taxpayers can pick up a packet at any Barnett office in Florida and Georgia and return the completed packet to Barnett. The packets are forwarded to FASTAX EXPRESS for review, and upon verification by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), taxpayers receive notice of when to expect a refund -- usually within three weeks. The service is available to both Barnett customers and non- customers for $29.95.
As the filing deadline approaches, Barnett's electronic filing service offers two important advantages over mail filing: the verification and review of every return by FASTAX EXPRESS eliminates the possibility that a return will be delayed or rejected because of errors; a calculation error, for example, can result in an additional delay of several weeks. Secondly, regardless of when the tax return is filed via FASTAX EXPRESS, taxpayers can still expect their refund checks to arrive within three weeks or less.
With $32.7 billion in assets and 593 offices in Florida and Georgia, Barnett is Florida's leading financial institution and the 20th-largest in the United States. The company's stock (BBI) is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
