BARNETT'S FREEMAN NEW CHAIRMAN OF CONSUMER BANKERS
 JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Douglas K. Freeman, chief corporate banking executive of Barnett Banks, Inc. (NYSE: BBI), has been elected chairman of the national Consumer Bankers Association.
 Freeman, who joined Barnett in August 1991 as head of the corporate banking division, was elected 1992-93 chairman at the C.B.A.'s 72nd Annual Conference in Tucson, Ariz.
 Freeman is former chairman of C.B.A.'s Education Council and is currently a faculty member at the C.B.A. Graduate School of Retail Bank Management.
 Prior to joining Barnett, Freeman was head of the Business Banking Group at Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco.
 As chief corporate banking executive, Freeman has been instrumental in strengthening Barnett's focus on small business banking. Barnett is the leader in providing banking services for small businesses in Florida.

 The Consumer Bankers Association was founded in 1919 to provide a progressive voice for the retail banking industry.
